hey guys, i'm new so hi.

i am thinking about buying either a PSP or a DS. i am leaning towars the DS because it is cheaper, smaller, i don't care about graphics very much. any comments about personal experiences or comments about either device would be greatly appreciated.

i know there aren't many games for the PSP but it also has a media player.

the DS can't play music buy it has lots of games, many of which i like, and a second screen.

i also have a few questions:
what type of cartridge does the DS take? is it the same as a GBA  cartridge?
what extra features do both have?
will either be replaced in the near future?
will the price come done soon/is it worth waiting?

this argument may have been done before so sorry if it has. i'll post more questions if i have any, thanx

yeah, i don't plan on buying the ps3 or the xbox360. i don't use consoles as much as i used to so it's not worth buying them.i am mainly interested in buying handheld.......things. i like the portability.

if you like pokemon then buy ds and if you like 3d action and good graphic buy psp or just look at the psp list and ds list in rom request and if you like any game for it buy it.(think you love nintendogs and it only for ds so buy ds)

I think you should buy the PSP, the media player rules! The DS is good too, but I don't really take a liking to it.

Both can play movies and mp3s and such, you just need the right hardware for the ds though.

From a pirating point of view, they're both easy to play games on. I just got a passme to go with my supercard for my ds and now I can play homebrews, emlators and roms on it. And the PSP, as long as you have firmware 1.5 you're fine.

They're both fine systems. PSP doeasn't relaly have too many great games yet, but the ds has the GBA thing.

I dunno. I own both so I can't choose.

You can play GBa games on it yes.
But DS carts are the size of secure digital cards (roughly).  They're much smaller.

And we all know that graphics make the better game.

I'm sorry, that's wrong. Graphics tend not to matter.

lol, i hate it when people judge the game by the graphics.
i went to the official nintendo DS website and found a page that allows you to see a 3d model of the DS and rotate it and stuff, looks cool. a bit bulky, but cool...

DS all the Way, It just lowered in Price too !, Id have to say Ds because It is the most innovative system yet! Psp is flashy, and has game variety , But has no gaming fun, mostly just ps2 games converted to the Psp. If you are a owner of the Ps2, DO NOT BUY THIS , its practically the excact same thing as the ps2, Ds has less games, But each is very innovative!!!!! Make sure you Pick up a copy of Waroiware= Touched !

those are basically the main reasons i'm getting a ds- it's cheaper, cand do what the psp can do, has a bloody good lineup , and the games are more fun. i think the games for the PSP will be just the same as the PS2. eg. why buy a portable PS2? i already own one.

remember that the play-yan is coming out in america soon, and that can play .asf and .mpeg4 videos, and it can play all mp3 music, but the american version can't play those little mini games.

The Play-Yan is an DS accessorie that played music and movies, it worked like a flash cart.

[/quote]Actually, its for the GBA SP, but its fully compatible with the DS, and I've seen recenly on some other emulation forums a new program that allows you to compress a film for a DS flash cart, but its still in beta stages, and If my memory is correct, I remember hearing that a company had made a film compressing tool for the DS, and it would be used for games and maybe movies.

that would be cool, it sucks that you need to buy extra accessories for the ds to do what the psp can
