I'm not familiar with the project's details, but I don't see any reason to remake CT, which is one of the best games ever made. They should have used their time and spirit for something original.

bah..square and their stupid decisions..

I wouldve loved to see a remake of that game on a handheld or on a new generation console. That would be Remake of the year...

Whoa sorry guys. I guess I shuld have explained.
The Crono Trigger Remake project was a 3d conversiuon of Chrono Trigger from scratch using the Unreal Tourney engine.
The project was originally intended for N64, but the 64 died before it could get off the ground so plans were made to port it to PC first and then work on one for Gamecube, PS2, and\or Xbox.

As for running the original on GBA, there is a SNEStoGBA converter\emulator out there. It's not very good, it's VERY slow, not very compatible, not scaled well and no sound, but maybe someday. Maybe.

The SNES emulator for DS looks a little more promising though, as you can save and load states and the emulation will be a lot faster overall.

Never heard of Chrono Cross? Its not a true sequel, more in the FF way...but rumors about a third Chrono series game have been around for ages.

There were 2 other 'attempted' Chrono sequels.
A third game was announced, but never completed called Chrono Break.
I can't find anyhting else on the other BUT...

Meh, I'm not gonna buy a NDS just for a Chrono game ;p Too bad they aren't making a sequel though. I haven't played Chrono trigger yet, only the beginning of Chrono cross. Lionlake told me it's a great game, he bought it for me. I should really start playing it.

Since this Neoflash thing came out, I've been phyched for when you can put full ROMs on it and then someone makes a "SNEStoDS" thing like "SNEStoGBA"
and then all we have to do is convert and upload. These are just my thoughts.

The original sequal to Trigger was Radical Dreamers, which was some kind of internet/downloadable game that never left Japan.  Its awesome though.  There is a project on translating the rom, but they don't give it out.  I have it, though, if anyone is interested.  You'll have to get the translater yourself.

About RD, its different than the other ones.  My best description is that its like one of those 'Choose your own Adventure' books, except infinitely better.  The story is pretty simple, Serge, Kid, and a shady character named Magil are sneaking into Lynx's manor to steal the Frozen Flame.  Sound familiar?  It really is worth looking into.

Yeah, it sorta does...

This is kinda stupid. Sending out a C&D letter to a fangame? One, it won't damage SquareEnix in any way, and Two, it's just a fangame, it's not like they're gonna sell it out on the streets or someting. SquareEnix are a bunch of b*******

Oh yeah I forgot about this one. I had heard some great things about it..too bad Squaresoft never made an actual english game of it.

Wonder why they chose for a Grandia 3 instead of a Chrono 3

The reason they had to stop was it is infringing on copyright laws, or something.  Chrono Trigger is Square's property, and they don't want anyone messing with it.  If anything Square should have just absorbed the project, made it officially theirs and just let it finish.  Would have made a lot of people happy.

Yeah, but that doesn't stop DBZ fangames, Sonic fangames, other fangames. From what I've heard, Sega actually allows sonic fangames to be made. This game is simply a fangame, so what's wrong with that?

Well, one might be its size.  The other is that its Square.  Its their game, and even if they made it a long time ago it still hurts the ego if someone else decides to make it better.

I certainly would like to see the project continued, but it SquareEnix asks you to stop working on a remake of a game that they own, it's only common courtesy to stop. It does belong to them.

Although something like that is relaly unprescidented isn't it?
The only games I know that were updated were the first few kings quest games but those were updated to VGA rather than from 2D to 3D.

and again that was the fan community not Sierra.

Instead of cancelling all these remake projects, why don't they just remake themselves so there are no longer any fanmade remake projects. The see they would make like a billion dollars from a remake but there to stupid to realise it,
its not like they see any fanmade remakes of the old Final Fantasy's, and when Square does it themselves, they just make it crappy, and besides, I'm getting tired of Final Fantasy, there all the same, the only improved things are the graphics and some of the story, and in the end. you just save the world. Why try to destroy it, maybe be the bad guys the main characters always try to defeat. Square has no original idead left, just copy after copy after copy.

I hope I can safely assume that you all have played Chrono Trigger.  Isn't it good, no, AWESOME just the way it is?  Yes, better graphics would be nice, but it wouldn't be the same.  Some games are old, like I dled Phantasy Star 2 a while back after playing 4, and it was old.  Phantasy Star 4 was old, yes, but still played well, and therefore considered Classic.  Kind of like cars, you rebuild it but it still looks the same and looks good.  Chrono Trigger is good the way it is, good graphics, good story, good battle system.  I'd play it if they did remake it, but it wouldn't be the same.  It just wouldn't be the same.

Although if I can trust some other sites they are remaking Final Fantasy 7 for the PS3.  I think I feel the same about it, but that isn't going from 2d to 3d.  They could change the graphics without altering the gameplay too much.
