I've tried every key on my keyboard twice to press 'New Game' on the vba for pokemon emerald. None of these worked, what is the 'use' key?

Options>Joypad>Configure

well, if I'm not mistaken the preconfigured buttons are
L = a
R = s
A = z
B = x
but I can't be sure of that 100% cuz it's been a long time since I've configured my emulator

but if it's not working you should make sure that vba.ini is in the same folder as the emulator
