heres the thing: ive played pokemon fire red for a while now, when i started i dident care about the fact that i couldent save "in-game" because im able to save in VBA! but then i found the program VBA Link and me and my brother wanted to trade and battle with our pokemon with each other, but you have to save your game before you can connect with the other one!

ive tried to patch my game and changed to flash 128kb, but that only help if i start a new game! ive downloaded both the 1936 and the 1965 version of fire red, but no difference it still says "save error: please exhange bla bla bla". (and yes ive tried to patch both of them)
some guy wrote that i could use the export gameshark snapshot from my old game and start a new one and use import gameshark snapshot.
but that only makes it reset and deleting my save games!

now i realy need your guys help to fix this!
i would appreciate every answer or idea!
thx in advance Freddie

The only way would be to patch your game with the .ips file provided in the download and start from scratch. It might be possible to import your save game via Import>Battery File, but I doubt the save file would still be compatible after IPS patching the game.

No, you can't patch the saved games. This is a very common problem, you're not the only one who's encountered it. The only way is to patch and then start over. There is NO other way.

Well you could possibly try making a save state then loading it after you start from scratch, that may work. I did that when my Golden Sun wasn't working and i needed to change certain settings with it (almost the equivelent of installing a patch) but of course the circumstances could be different with Pokemon. It's worth a try, it would suck to lose your entire game  :(

The save states of the unpatched game are incompatible with the patched game.
