If I were to choose, I would pick the PSP...........but the DS is also cool.
It just come down to which one you like more.
The DS does of touch screen.....so they are about the same overall.

Well enjoy your DS.

The DS is in early developement, although the graphics are so far uncomparable to the PSP, and most of the games are short and 2-D like demos, just wait, Nintendo has not yet steered us wrong when it comes to hand-helds. Developer's need to get used to the DS before any real eye-poppers come out.

That took an incredible amount of thought... ;D

I have and prefer the DS.

The PSP has way too many sports games and generic shooters for my taste.  I much prefer the cutesyness of GBA style games though, so I'm biased.  Keep in mind that both the PSP and DS are capable of SNES emulation.  Right now the PSP SNES emulator runs most game but with slowdown and bugs.  The SNES emulator for the DS can emulate some of the earlier games at full speed with almost no bugs, but can't run others period.  Both will, I expect, reach 100% emulation soon enough.  The PSP can only run homebrew though if it's 1.5 or earlier, and all the new PSP's are 2.0 out of the box, so until someone cracks the new firmware it won't be able to run any homebrew.  With the DS you have to flash your firmware using either passME or WifiME.

I think the RPG's for the DS will be a lot of fun judging by the large amount of excellent GBA RPG's.

hey ive just realised this everone knows that gameboy was a legend everyone had one apart from my poor freinds and the psp has legendary home console experence so i have a ps2 at home and i have a ds on the go thats like the perfect combo
(stuff xbox)
both handhelds are amazing i mean when we were little we dramed of 3d games on the go
and now we have it but i would say that the ds wich is from the creators from the legendary gameboy is the way to go.  :D

Finally, people that don't just bash on the DS.
I think both handhelds are in a fight for the #1.
They both have almost equal 3D graphics (I think PSP is a bit better, or its just how they use the hardware.) They both have plenty of developement for
company developers and small time developers (meant in the best possible sense, I can't think of a better word.) The next few months (or years) are going to be very interesting.

well if youre anintendo fan go with the ds you'll have fun with games like then warioware series and the touchscreen is a really good idea. but the psp has so many games but... at seriously high prices and the fact that if you leave your house with a psp it's not comin' back

I have both and they're both great.

The DS has some quality games and the GAB compatibility is great

The PSP can play lots of emulators though. Not too many games.

I'd lean for PSP though. I LOVE Nintendo, but I can play Chrono Trigger on my PSP.

If you could only choose one console to buy, get a DS.  A DS can play music and movies too using Play-yan and has way better games. the graphics arent thaaaat bad.

Also that new M3 adapter for the DS on the news section, and I support Nintendo on on their new pillar of gaming (handheld-cosole-touch screen). I have a DS but I'm still buying a PSP.

PSP is all machine really, nothing really innovative, but if you want to just go for pure power in games, it would be the best. I like the DS though because the touchscreen idea is excellent, i think it has shown how innovative new technology can be incorporated into games, but it's probably a bad long-term move by Nintendo as they're starting to become the 'gimmick' company. All their products come with gimmicks that try and support a weaker console.
