no, so far ive bought about 200 to 300 so thats where youd be wrong.
Im complaining about prices because it doesnt work fairly. buying a ps2 game such as GTA SA for $100 is very tempting to buy on the day, but if you wait until it's platnum, you wouldve found out secrets, cheats, tips and hints and cheat your way to the end. I know this is somwhat moving away from the price issue but its actually apart of it. Buying a platnum game actually means that your really buying a crappy version of the exact same title. Simply because you got the stuff to help you get through it. Even if you didnt purposly look for any of the hints n tips, cheats etc.. then why in the first place would you be interested in the game if you didnt want to buy it so badly?, lets just leave it at this that normal games that are not platnum should just be sold cheaply for around $60 to $70. Surely that aint asking a heck of alot from the developers. LOOK at EA :o, SHOCK, ... not even.. they rake the money in like crazy and they still sell all there dvd games for $100. A good thing for them though is that there games go plutnum quickly, so i wait for em on platnum... They dont reduce the normal prices.. im jusut gonna shut up now.

Dude, the price usually does go down. It's called 'platinum' =P
Thats the period of time companies make profit.
Before that it's just getting back what they spent.

Why is everyone here complaining anyway? It's because you're here pirating that games take longer to reach platinum status and become cheaper.

You don't even buy a lot of your games yet you're here b****ing when the high prices are partially your fault. Shame!

Sorry, I meant the prices of new games.

Yeah, new games are pretty expensive. But thats because games cost so much to make.
You can't really blame the companies. If they sold things to cheap they'd go bankrupt.

I don't buy a game unless it's £20 or less. Unless i know it's great.
I.e. played a demo or rented it.

I usually get games second hand from Game or in special deals.

Where the hell do you buy your games?  The Ps2/ GCN/ Xbox games start out at $50 most of the time, except for Socom Navy Seals.

Let's say a game does cost around $50 US. There is a lot of work that goes into it but if it's a high profile game lke Halo 2 or something there's no need to put the price so high for reasons other than greed.

The dealer may buy the game from a wholesaler for maybe $40, and they then get them off of the manufacturer for maybe $30 a pop.

Multiply $30 by the estimated one million buyers of Halo 2 and once you subtract advertizing and wages for the peons that made it, you've turned a hefty profit of something like 20 million. While the manufacturer and distributor reeled in 10 million in profit (before wages and costs and those elusive taxes).

It's called inflation and it happens all the time. People like their money.

Average prices for games have remained the same here since the NES. I doubt many people pirated with the old 8bit and 16bit consoles, yet prices were always high. Sometimes for unbelievably crappy games just slapped together.

I get how nowadays theres a whole team behind it, lead designers, artists, sound producers etc..compared to the earlier days, it doesn't seem so high priced anymore. I don't think prices are high because of all the downloading and piracy..the prices of renting DVDs isn't higher now that a lot of people can download movies for free..is it?

What I don't get however..is that GC games are always 60 euros here..while PS2 and PC are usually more around 50. Why the heck is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles not platinum yet..

Well they are not expensive they got to make some profit and if we say stop loving game the prices would go down but thats just a conspiracy

Gaming companies put a lot of money into their games, so while it only costs them about $1 to reproduce the game, they have to cover for all the money they paid to produce it in the first place, they also need to make a profit and that's why the prices are so high now, partially thanks to piracy and p2p.
