whenever i walk into a store, i see a game there just sitting on the shelf. the thing would cost me near $100 just to buy it and see if it's any good. Lucky for me i had read the reviews and got several opinions. But im not gonna buy it because the game isnt worth $100. If it was like, $50 or $70, then yeah, id buy it. But this particular game should never be allowed to sell for that much. WHY...? we have freedom dammit, and its all being pushed away because of high prices.

$100?? What game is it? The games I find in shops around here are max £35 (PC CD), about $70.
And games aren't really that expensive when you compare them with othr software.

I agree. I have bought quite some games for too much money. When I want to buy a game, I go to the stores that sells them and I compare the prices. Once, I bought Koudelka for the psx. I checked 3 different stores. The prices were, 40 euro's, 60 euro's and 80 euro's. So ofcourse I bought the one that cost 40 euro's. It's just stupid that there is such a difference in price.

So now I download the games I want. That only costs me money for dvd's.

The reason games cost so much is because the manufacturers know that people will buy them.

The most I pay for a top ranked game is not more than $50.00 US.
And since games are such great entertainment they will always be expensive.

Consider buying online. Online prices are usually much cheaper than in store ones. I get my games from www.play.com and www.sendit.com (Europe only), their games are much cheaper than my local game store.

actually, games today are CHEAPER. a cd would like cost 40-50 US dollars where as cartridges from the SNES days costed 60-70 US dollars.

so as you can see, cds cheper than carts/.:)

that would be because carts are vauable nowadays becuase people find them to be rare and worth lots of $$$. If this is the case, imagine how much a ps2 game would be worth in mint condition in 10 or 20 years time?.. quite frankly, i dont have the time to care, or waste. ::)

Have you stopped to think about how much it costs to MAKE a game?  You have to advertise to get a Dev. Team, you have to pay them to make the game, pay people to test the game, pay people to design box art, pay people to manufacture the game, pay people to sell the games, pay people to market the games, pay people to ship the games, and on top of ALL that, you have video game pirates who steal the games.

thats there problem, if they made a gba game it would be quite cheap, but if it was something like gt4, then you'd be expecting to pay $100 for all of that effort that they put into it. HELL NO.. i aint paying $100.  ::), they did the work, they rake in the money, we enjoy em... CHEAPY'S  ;D

A GBA game would take less resources to make, they are usually 2d games, not life like 3D games cram packed with features.  If you don't like the price, then don't buy it.  Complaining does nothing.

Games are expensive because a lot of man power and technology goes into making them. Games are expensive because the companies need that money back.
Once they have got that money back, the game usually goes platinum and you can buy it cheaper. That is when the companies make the most of their profit

Games are expensive because of the same reason why shoes are so expensive. Shoes takes less than $1 to make, yet they are sold $200. People still buy them nevertheless. As long as people keep buying them, the price will not go down.

Dude, the price usually does go down. It's called 'platinum' =P
Thats the period of time companies make profit.
Before that it's just getting back what they spent.

Why is everyone here complaining anyway? It's because you're here pirating that games take longer to reach platinum status and become cheaper.

You don't even buy a lot of your games yet you're here bitching when the high prices are partially your fault. Shame!
