Yeah an old discussion I guess.

How far can developers go? Do we need hundreds of hit areas and realistic responses to being shot in games? Do we need virtual soldier trainings when its young kids playing it? Or should games revert to Mario-like levels of violence?

What do you guys think?

True, but how far should this violence go? Do we need blood? Do we need to realistically see what happens when someone is shot with a high powered rifle at point-blank range? Some games choose not to show blood, but some flashes, best compared to things you'd see in most comics, but less cheesy. And yknow, those games dont suffer because of it.

well violence is okay, just as long as you dont do it in the real world. Games such as GTA SA demonstrate how to run over innocents, rob shops and houses, start bush fires and even sniper peoples heads off. Surely illegal car racing in the game doesnt help either. And some of the missions are really nasty to go through. Violence should only stay in video games, not in the real world too.

doing something in a game is something you'll never attempt in the real world. Unless it was off a game like the Sims. I reckon thats the whole point of developers making games such as Resident Evil, for the thrill of blasting the undead, finding out the mystery's, and big explosions. But none of that stuff can be seen in the real world. I still like violence, in a good way.

sometimes the bloodscenes and all are just a little too much. But with God of war for instance it just belongs in the game because some games are like that, but it isn't really necessary

Violence RULES. But i agree it should only stay in video games and games like the GTA series are good for a laugh but some pshyco's out there can really take it a little too far.

Violent games should always be around but they should make it in unrealistic situations that would never happen in the real world very often.

IMO, they should put limitations. Like in GoW, blood is like..everywhere..lol Im not saying i dont enjoy it but im saying they should be stricter on selling video games to 13 yr old. Im 15 and im playing a 18+ game..who knows there may be a 5 yr old kid thinking he's kratos weilds the Blade of Chaos using a knife and accidently stabbed his sister shouting "EEEVVVVVVIIIILLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!"

In short, they should be stricter in selling games and put limitations in violence.

yeah, if they show blood, do it in a game which is not for kids or young people. but you see violence in kids games too, or in tv shows, sometimes you see kids picking on other kids and stuff that's not violent but it's not nice to look at. At least I wouldn't want to see something like that if I was a kid
