Ending IGN's monopoly, one play at a time

Forums · does this game sound familiar?

i can't quite remember what system it was on. i think it may have been the sega cd one, because i remember pulling a song off it :P.

it was an old RPG that started out, (if i remember correctly) with a boy in his parent's house. you walk around gathering the stuff you need for your "quest". i don't remember why he needed to go on this quest though, maybe it was a sick friend or family member or something. If i remember right, you get your first weapon in the basement of the house which happends to have a maze in it heheh.

any ways, the part of the game that really stood out for me was this song sung by this friend of the main character. who ever voiced for the character had an amazing voice.  that would be why i put the song on tape :D, it was reallly relaxing.

i think you got 5 people in your group and ..... oh i dannno. i swear i was like probably like 11 or something when i played it. ...... i had a bad memory before i fried my brain so yea....

if any one knows what game that is and if/where i could find a rom of it i'd so flip out like crazy.... not that it'd matter to you much but still, i'd say thank you alot if that makes it any better :)

I believe you get 5 ppl in Lunar SSS too.

the only thing i cant remember is about the basement thing and the sick friend.

like i said, it was a good while back. the recording to tape, yea i remember listening too it on the bus.....

not so sure about that sick friend. although i think you get the sword from either a chest or the boys dad. getting it from a chest is like RPG redundency, but on the "maybe from the dad" i could be getting mixed up on games.

i'm quite sure there was a story line to it. in fact i think there was a female villian.... but then again, i've played ff9 since then so who knows lol. if it was a square soft game then it was probably just another really hot guy lol.... *cringe*

btw, did you get a chance to watch this years E3?

no, actually i'm not sure that lunar wasn't it. i wouldn't even be able to test it if it was because i can't seem to get my epsxe running right. i've got the bios and all but it just freezes up and then only closes through the running proccesses thing

and i'm sorry you didn't get to see E3. i'm sure there's clips on the G4 website though.

The first part of your description almost sounds like EverQuest 64.  Any chance that is the game?
Rating: 0

no definately not. not unless it's around 8-10 years old. i'd have to say that'd be a good age estimate for the game i'm still not remembering.

crimson; as to the lunar, i'm still trying to find a copy for the gba. i seem to run the gba just fine because i found another game called lunar...... but i'm preatty sure it's not an rpg... heh... looks more like a simulator style thing. nothing more than repeatedly landing some thing that looks like the craft that landed on the moon lol

LOL try requesting at Rom request board to find better results.

heheh, yea i thought of that.... i just hadn't done it. i figured i'd poke around a bit and try and find it. .... but after i was tortured with that freakish little lunar landing sim, i just curled up on the couch and lost consciousness. .... i don't feel "motivated" enough as of current to go looking for it but i may try yet again. untill then i shall give the request line a click and a post, so off i goes

but then again.... i don't think it would be lunar. your saying lunar is a game for psx and gba. the game i'm thinking of is older than that. it had to have been on the old sega cd system. also, like i said, it's probably around 8-10 years old....

Lunar was originally published on SegaCd. So was the 2nd Lunar. Then they were published for the PSX as well.
