Yeah I had that feeling too at first. Simply yet fun and addictive. Eventually the effect wears down as the levels become harder and a real struggle against time. (trick, don't save if you've had a bad day..just reset..)

Way ahead of you.
I screwed up bad with my first yellow pikmin and he blew up ALL of my pikmin. Every single one. I didn't think the blast raduis was like that.
So basically that day never happened as far as those pikmin are concerned.
Also I drowned a large group of yellows (70 poor stupid yellow pikmin) later on in the game while trying to do something that in retrospect was really stupid.
