Harry Potter books are written for children. I find very little interest in them as they appear far too childish for me. The movies are good, I have to agree, but I can think of hundreds of better titles which are far more appealing for a reader of my age (like books from the publisher Wizards of the Coast).

the books aren't only for childrens
they even made special editions of the books so that adults can read then too.

They're basically the same thing with a different cover. I mean it. I've read the adult versions and they're both the same.

Harry Potter books are not exactly crap, though, the magic stuff was okay the first book or two, after that, they started putting an HUGE emphasis on that stuff. At least they're better than the movies.

And I doubt the new one would be any good, considering how long it's been worked on. Two years, compared to 6 years of the last two books put together doesn't sound very good.

I'll probably download the e-book and read it on my free time.

Harry Potter isnt' really for children, I've seen plenty of adults reading it as well.

Now books like Angels & Demons, Digital Fortress and The Da Vinci Code are for adults (heh Dan Brown fan)

Most fantasy classics have been geared towards children.
The lord of the rings was aimed at the teen audience while the hobbit was aimed at younger kids.

It doesn't matter if it's for kids, people are allowed to like it. But please so be so flippant as to dismiss it because it's for kids. That's not always a negative thing.

The Harry Potter books are quite interesting and don't treat you like a kid I find. Everything is explained to you but not in a babying way.
